Matthew Hulbert Author: Conor Kostick
Epic
Description: This book is about a planet where there is no violence and decisions are made by fighting other players in the game Epic. Central Allocations are the most powerful players in the game and in the real world. Some people challenge Central Allocations to get supplies for their community but no one ever wins.
Quote: “Did you ever daydream about dueling Central Allocations and winning” “Always”
Reflective Piece: I’d rate this book a ten because there were a lot of very vivid words and cliff hangers that actually brought me into the book. I chose the quote because the point of the book is to beat Central Allocations.

Vanessa Foulke Title: The Graveyard Book Author: Neil Gaiman Genre: Fiction

Description: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman is a very interesting book about a boy named Nobody Owens [Bod for short] who is raised in a graveyard because his family was murdered by a man named Jack. As time goes on, Jack is still on a hunt to find and kill Bod. Bod’s new guardian, Silas, forbids him from going outside of the graveyard and into the dangerous world, except when he goes to school [which doesn’t last long]. However, at his home in the graveyard, he has freedom, so he can fade and slip through walls. Later in the story, these abilities can help to save his life.
Quote: ‘Potential, once your dead it’s gone. Over. You’ve made what you’ve made, dreamed your dream, written your name.’ pg.179 I think this is a very meaningful quote because it is true.
Reflective piece: I liked this book because the author uses a lot of describing words to describe the eerie scenes of the graveyard. If I were to rate this book on a scale from 1-10, I would rate it a 9 because there is not a lot of suspense.
Suggestions for prop: I would do a diorama or acrostic poem of the graveyard.

Ally Wener Catching Fire
Suzanne Collins
Science Fiction
Description: Catching Fire and the other series of The Hunger Games are totally epic. Once I finished the series I wanted it to go on forever. The book is about how Katniss has survived the hunger games. But danger lies ahead of her. A stand up in the districts has lead them to a rebellion with the Capitol, Katniss has lost Peeta and who knows what has happened to him, thousands of people are dead or lost, and it’s all up to Katniss of how it will all play out. Many people’s lives depend on Katniss’s actions. Who knows what she’ll do next?!?
Quote from book: Page 263 “This isn’t a place for the girl on fire.”

I picked this quote because she is called the “Girl on Fire”, because of the clothes Cinna, her stylist, designed for her. She was looking at an ocean of water that she’d have to conquer and fire and water doesn’t mix well!
Reflection piece: Catching Fire was definitely epic. I totally think it was a 1 as in being awesome. Every sentence was like “Oh my gosh, what will happen next!?!” The end was such a drop off I couldn’t wait to go home and buy the last book on my kindle. I’ve already finished the series! I totally recommend the Hunger Games Trilogy to everyone!!!

This book is about a girl L.J who knows she belongs on the soccer field. When L.J is on the field everything’s great, but, when she goes to take that big shot she lets her temper get the best of her both on and off the field. Tabitha doesn’t really care to be on the bench most of the time. She cares mostly about credit cards than yellow cards. Towards the end L.J realizes that sometimes it takes more skill and confidence to do good and it’s not all about winning. It takes some losing to be a good winning.
“The only sure way to miss success is to miss the opportunity.” Pg. 96. I like this quote because its true if you don’t take the success you would miss the opportunity to do something great.
This book was really interesting. It tells about a girl L.J who knows her passion is to be on the soccer field. Her friends and team are there to support each other. I would mostly likely rate this book a 6 1/2 because it’s is good but I would recommend it to other readers.
